The Shetland Sheepdog is an outstanding companion dog with a delightful temperament. It is gentle, sensitive, loyal, lively and dainty. The Sheltie is an intelligent breed, willing to please and obey. It is loyal and affectionate with its family, but can be suspicious with strangers, especially children. They will however, put up with a lot from children in the family.
The Sheltie is above all an intelligent herder with herding instincts still strong in many of them. They like to be kept busy and love to chase and bark at things including cars. Because of its beauty and kindness, the Sheltie has become a popular companion dog.
